Stepping Stones
This video clip shows a pedestrian
walking over the stepping stones in both
forward and reverse directions.  The
photo shows another pedestrian walking
and talking at the same time.
The set of stepping stones must be negotiated on each pass through the course.  Stepping
stones have regular alternation across track, and irregular spacing along-track, as shown in
the plot and accompanying table.  Stepping-stone dimensions are chosen to allow use of
standard US or European cinder blocks (
e.g. with US dimensions 75/8 × 75/8 × 155/8).  Each
block may be capped with a flat surface having arbitrarily high coefficient of friction.  The
blocks may not be fastened to the track.  The maximum allowable weight of each block is 15
kg, and the mass centre may be no lower than 15 cm above the track.  A half-height step may
be placed at each end as drawn, in addition to the twenty full-height stepping stones.  There
is no restriction on weight or mass-centre for the half-height steps.
